The 'Balcony Live Time-Lapse' experiment lasted from Mai 2011 to August 2011. An updated version of 'live' time-lapse video was automatically published online every 15 minutes...
To gather the pictures a wall-mount was constructed using a cheap mobile phone cover and three angle irons. In there, an old iPhone 3GS with a Olloclip wide angle lens running the Timelapser app was constantly capturing pictures.
A shell script running 24/7 constantly copied the pictures to the desktop computer over WLAN using SSH.
A selection of pictures excluding night shots was automatically chosen by a small java program. Another bash script then created the time-lapse movie using ffmpeg and uploaded it to the website via FTP every 15 minutes.
